I am rewriting our ending
It begins with a proper goodbye,
no longer asking if you’re really gone
no longer wondering why
In this new ending,
I want to say thank you
For glimpses into possibility
And experiences with an amazing view
I want you to know you were deeply loved
Whether you believed it or not
You can’t control that fact
No matter how far me, you run
Your endings all go the same way
But I refuse to make that my story
I deserved better than being abandoned dismay
I really was trustworthy
I'll cherish the moments we shared
Despite the chill you ultimately brought
For in those fleeting times of warmth
I found my strength and thought
To reflect on what I truly need
A love that's always honest and kind
Not one that leaves me questioning my worth
Or losing my peace of mind
So here’s to a new beginning
With lessons learned and heart intact
I’ll move forward with gratitude
Leaving behind what we lacked
Goodbye to the frost and ice of your cold shoulder
Goodbye to silent punishment echoing each endless night
